General Information About Internet Phone
Utilising GoTrek VoIP creates a cheap alternative to making phone calls, via traditional landlines and mobiles. Using GoTrek VoIP, there are three options to connect and make calls.
Option 1: Using a microphone and headphone to
make calls via the Internet
With this option, the Internet Phone service utilises a microphone and headphone (standard with most computers), however this can be substituted with a Headset. This service allows you to make and receive calls however your computer will need to be turned on to access the service.
(Option 1 above uses a microphone and headphones)
Option 2: Using a USB phone to make calls via the Internet With this option, the Internet Phone service utilises a USB Phone handset. This device can be purchased at any electronics store. As in Option 1 above your computer will need to be turned on to access the service.
(Option 2 above uses USB phone via your computer)
Option 3: Using a standard phone to make calls via the Internet As you can see in the diagram below, your computer is connected to the Internet via an ADSL connection via your modem. An ATA (Analog Telephone Adaptor) converter is then used to connect a standard phone to the VOIP service without the requirement of having your computer switched on.
(Option 3 above uses standard phone via ATA converter
where the connecting modem has two USB ports)
